Once connected, the Viewer shows the Camera’s live feed. Check the composition and expression, then tap the white shutter button in your hand. You can also take a photo with the shutter button on the Camera.

Tip: Place the Camera iPhone on a stable surface or mount before stepping away. This makes full-body framing much easier.

Tap the point you want in focus on either preview. A tap on the Viewer is sent to the Camera, so the person in the photo can focus on a face, person, or object from where they stand.

Tap the grid button at the bottom of the screen to show a rule-of-thirds guide. You can toggle it from either iPhone, and the same state appears on the other device. Use it to keep the horizon level or place someone just off center.

Zoom is controlled on the Camera. Choose a zoom level at the bottom of the screen or pinch the Camera preview with two fingers. The updated framing appears in the Viewer’s live feed.

Swipe up or down on the Camera preview to adjust brightness. Lower the exposure near a bright window to protect highlights, or raise it slightly when a face is dark in backlight.

On the Camera, tap the lightning button in the top-right corner to cycle through Auto, On, and Off. The current flash mode is also shown on the Viewer.

1. On the Camera, choose 1, 3, 4, or 6 frames in the top-left corner.
2. Press the shutter to capture the selected number of frames.
3. Both iPhones show the candidates. Choose a frame on either device, and the result is applied to the other one too.

You can also keep every frame or discard the entire burst. A chosen frame receives a Best Shot badge in the in-app gallery.

While the shooting screen is open, a volume button on either the Camera or Viewer works as the shutter. It is useful when you want to keep watching the composition without moving your thumb back to the on-screen button.

Every photo is saved to the totte gallery on both the Camera and Viewer. Open it from the role selection screen or with the photo button in the bottom-right corner of the shooting screen.

Important: The totte gallery and Apple’s Photos app are separate locations. Export photos you want to keep to Photos as an extra safeguard.

Tap Select in the top-right corner of the gallery, choose the photos you want, then tap Save at the bottom. You can export several shots to Apple’s Photos app at once.

Accept the prompt after your first photo, or open Settings from the gear at the bottom of the role selection screen and enable Save to Photos Automatically. Automatic saving applies only to the iPhone where you enable it; turn it on separately on both devices if you want both copies exported. For a burst, totte waits until Best Shot is resolved and saves only the final result.

• Open a photo to zoom, favorite, share, or delete it.
• The Favorites filter includes both hearted photos and Best Shots.
• Pinch the gallery grid to change how many photos fit on screen.
• Use Select to save or delete several photos at once.

Deleting a regular photo on one iPhone does not delete the copy from the other iPhone’s gallery.

1. Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on for both iPhones.
2. Confirm that one device is set to Camera and the other to Viewer.
3. Re-enter the latest 4-digit code shown on the Camera.
4. Open iPhone Settings → totte and allow Local Network access.
5. Move the devices closer, fully close totte on both, and reopen the app.

• Move the iPhones closer and reduce obstacles such as walls or dense crowds.
• Make sure Wi-Fi remains on for both devices.
• The Viewer intentionally pauses while the Camera has its gallery open. Close the gallery on the Camera to resume the live feed.
• If Reconnecting remains on screen, exit with the × button and connect again.

Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → totte and allow totte to add photos. For automatic saving, also make sure Save to Photos Automatically is enabled in totte’s settings.

Enable Gesture Shutter in totte’s settings, then hold your whole hand toward the Camera iPhone for about one second. Recognition may fail in low light, when part of the hand is outside the frame, or during the five-second cooldown after a gesture-triggered shot.

Enable Voice Shutter and allow microphone and speech recognition access. Speak “say cheese” or “cheese” loudly enough for the Camera iPhone to hear. Voice capture does not trigger again during the roughly three-second cooldown after a shot.

Yes. The live feed and photos are exchanged directly between the two iPhones. Keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on for both devices, but an internet connection is not required.

They are first saved to the in-app gallery on both the Camera and Viewer. You can export selected shots to Apple Photos or enable automatic saving on either iPhone.

No. They are exchanged only between the two connected iPhones. Even if you opt in to diagnostics, the contents of your photos, video feed, and audio are never sent.

The totte experience requires two iPhones: one Camera and one Viewer. You can pair your iPhone with a friend’s or partner’s device.
